Impressive vintage silver ring by the Swedish silversmith Bengt Hallberg, made in sterling silver. The design is strikingly simple: a wide, tall setting with a large round faceted rock crystal in the center. The rock crystal measures about 2 cm in diameter and is set in a closed setting. The full upper part of the ring is about 2.2 cm wide and sits about 1.3 cm above the finger. The ring band measures about 6 mm wide at the top and tapers toward the bottom. The band is open and therefore somewhat adjustable. On the inside the ring is hallmarked with BEH, the maker’s mark of Bengt Hallberg, and 925S for sterling silver. The ring is in clearly worn vintage condition. The silver shows scratches, small dents, and other signs of wear, especially around the large setting. The rock crystal also has a slightly deeper scratch, but this is not very noticeable when worn. Important to note is that the rock crystal has a small amount of play in the setting. When the ring is moved a light ticking sound may be audible. The stone is still firmly locked in the setting and will not come loose, but there is some play present and it is part of the current state of the piece.
