Curated collection of antique, vintage and modern rugs No Reserve - Antique Sarouk Farahan Boteh Rug, Central Persia, late 19th century Size: 6 ft 10 in x 4 ft 2 in (2.08 m x 1.27 m) Provenance: Collection of a late German collector Aghajan Nassimi An elegant Sarouk Farahan rug covered with the repeating boteh motif, one of the most enduring and symbolically resonant forms in Persian decorative art. Known in the West through its adaptation as the paisley pattern, the boteh may be interpreted as a leaf, a flame, a cypress shoot, or an abstracted floral form. Repeated across the field, it establishes a disciplined rhythm while allowing subtle variations in scale, orientation and color. The rug belongs to the distinguished nineteenth-century weaving traditions of central Persia, where refined drawing and balanced design were combined with a firm, durable structure. Condition Request Condition Report Lot #449 is in very good condition. The pile is full and even, with no visible signs of wear. Both ends are complete but they need securing , and the sides are secured. There is no dryness in the foundation. The rug is clean and floor-ready.
