Aubusson developed into one of France’s most important tapestry centers, producing pictorial and decorative textiles for aristocratic and sophisticated domestic interiors. The Metropolitan Museum of Art preserves numerous works associated with the Aubusson manufactory, reflecting its established position in French decorative-art history. Its nearly square format makes it particularly suitable for wall display.
