A 'klop' is a manual punch made after production on a coin. During the war, the Dutch clandestinely struck a large letter 'W' (for Wilhelmina) into the circulating copper and bronze cents of the time. This was done to openly, yet discreetly, show support for the Queen who fled to England. This lot is offered in our special SSA Numistrust selection auction; this special 6th auction runs until the last Tuesday of the month. This Special Single Seller Auction contains exclusively collectibles from the Queen Wilhelmina's reign.
