Natural petrified wood set from Madagascar – Millions of...

This extraordinary set of petrified wood from Madagascar brings together three fascinating specimens, showcasing the impressive connection between fossil history and mineral beauty. Over millions of years, the original wood structures were preserved by mineral processes and turned into unique works of natural art. Each piece shows its own distinct color palette and grain. Warm reds, oranges, browns, and golds meet dark contrasts and fine lines that still reveal the original growth structures of the wood. The high-gloss polished surfaces showcase the natural patterns in particularly striking detail and give the pieces remarkable depth. The left specimen captivates with vivid red and orange tones, reminiscent of an abstract landscape. The middle piece shows a rare combination of dark, almost black areas and finely layered wood structures that vividly emphasize the fossil origin. The right-hand specimen combines warm red and brown hues with striking natural markings, offering a fascinating glimpse into the multi-million-year history of this fossil material. Petrified wood ranks among the most fascinating fossil minerals in the world. Through complete mineralization, the original wood structure remains preserved, while the material simultaneously retains the hardness and durability of stone. The Madagascar specimens are especially prized for their extraordinary colors and excellent polishability. Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Petrified Wood Weight: 2365.47 g Size: - Treatment: None Origin: Madagascar It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years; all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were gradually replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
