Todas las subastas / Etnográfica / Natural freeform from Turritella agate / fossil snail...
This exceptional freeform sculpture displays an impressive density of fossil structures and feels like an frozen moment of prehistoric life. Across the entire surface, delicate snail-shaped fossils and curved fragment lines run, creating a fascinating ornamental overall image. The fossils appear in light cream- and beige-tones and stand out clearly from the finely textured gray-green to sandy-colored host rock. Particularly appealing is the natural distribution of the fossils: some appear fully preserved, others present as cut spirals or elongated fragments, resulting in a lively, almost graphic pattern. The careful polishing brings out this detailed fossil structure superbly and gives the freeform sculpture a calm yet very exciting aura. Turritella Agate, or fossil snail stone, counts among the classic fossil jewelry and collector rocks. Pieces with such a high fossil density and clear pattern are comparatively rare and possess a special decorative as well as collectible appeal. As a display piece, this freeform exerts a strong presence. Depending on the viewing angle, new details, small spirals, lines, and natural inclusions reveal the ancient formation history of the stone. In lithotherapy (stone therapy), fossil material is traditionally believed to have grounding, stabilizing effects—a calm, nature-connected energy that harmonizes well with the archaic look of this piece. Stone: Turitella Achat Weight: 2261,23g Size: 160x145x45mm Treatment: None Origin: USA It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone: there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks. Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood: the silicon. And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language. The disclaimer about the healing properties as previously given : It is believed that certain gemstones and minerals have beneficial health and spiritual properties.
