Die prachtvollen Kupfer von Gillot, Coypel, Picart, Ranc, Massé u.a. Claude Gillot schuf durch seine 62 Entwürfe, die er auch selbst radierte und stach, den Hauptanteil der Abbildungen. 'Die von Gillot selbst gestochenen Bilder durch lockere, skizzenhafte Stichtechnik herausragend' (Bodemann).- Breitrandiges Exemplar auf kräftigem Papier, der Index auf anderem Papier gedruckt.- Teilweise leicht (stock-)fleckig im breiten weißen Außenrand. The magnificent copperplate engravings by Gillot, Coypel, Picart, Ranc, Massé, and others. Claude Gillot created the majority of the illustrations through his 62 designs, which he also etched and engraved himself. 'The images engraved by Gillot himself stand out due to their loose, sketch-like engraving technique' (Bodemann). - Wide-margined copy on heavy paper, the index printed on a different paper. - Some light foxing in the wide white outer margin.
