Mosasaur - Fossil tooth - Thalassotitan atrox - 4.5 cm - 3 cm (No

Spectacular Thalassotitan atrox tooth (Mosasaur Megadepredator) – crown 4.5 cm A magnificent original tooth from Thalassotitan atrox is for sale, one of the most impressive and brutal mosasaur species discovered recently (officially described in 2022). This specimen stands out for its robust, solid, and purely conical morphology—unmistakable features that differentiate it from other common mosasaurs. • Species: Thalassotitan atrox (Tribe Prognathodontini) • Age/Period: Late Cretaceous, Maastrichtian Stage (approximately between 67 and 66 million years ago). One of the last and most evolved marine lizards before the mass extinction. • Geological Formation: Ouled Abdoun Basin phosphate deposits. • Locality: Oued Zem, Khouribga Province, Morocco. This tooth is not a simple smooth commercial piece; it tells a fascinating biological story. It features a markedly wide and thick morphology, equipped with its two worn carinae perfectly visible on the sides. This type of abrasion marks and microfractures are the species’ typical biological signature. Due to its durophagous diet (alpha megadepredator), the Thalassotitan used its jaws to crush the hardest elements of its prey: sea turtle shells, plesiosaur bones, and skeletons of other mosasaurs. This wear makes the tooth a direct testament to hunting behavior in the Cretaceous oceans. An indispensable, highly rare scientific addition for any serious collection of marine fossils and prehistoric reptiles!
