Montblanc - Great Characters "Alfred Hitchcock"...

A0000005613 MECHANICAL-GRAPHIC MONTBLANC GREAT CHARACTERS "ALFRED HITCHCOCK" (GERMANY, 2011): We present at auction one of the most acclaimed and coveted Limited Editions in Montblanc’s modern history. Paying tribute to the master of suspense, this monumental fountain pen belongs to the exclusive "Great Characters" collection and is strictly limited to only 3,000 units worldwide (Reference 0337/3000). The design of the piece is an intricate homage to Hitchcock’s filmography. The heavy body and cap are forged in solid Sterling Silver (Ag 925), over which a dark lacquer with a spiral concentric line effect has been applied, emulating the iconic spiral staircase from the film Vertigo. The clip is a masterful recreation of the menacing knife from the unforgettable shower scene in Psycho. The silver rings feature laser-engraved motifs inspired by the clapper notes of North by Northwest. When the cap is unscrewed, the fountain pen reveals a superb 18K solid gold nib (750) rhodium-plated, finely engraved with the director’s iconic silhouette self-portrait. Condition Report (Expert Review) The piece is in exceptional condition and comes with its complete set: Silver and Lacquer: The spiral lacquer is immaculate. As is typical of solid silver pieces preserved over years, the rings and platinum/silvered accents have developed a beautiful natural patina of oxidation (golden/coppery tones, highly visible in photos 7 and 8). It has been decided to leave it in its original state without polishing, as purist collectors relish this evidence of the passage of time (it can be returned to a mirror-silver shine with a polishing cloth if the buyer prefers). Mechanism and Presentation: The integrated piston operates perfectly. It is delivered complete with its monumental rigid case in the shape of a film reel, the quotation booklet ("Famous Quotes"), and the outer protective sleeve. (Note: It ships uninked). (Prospective bidders are kindly asked to view the photo gallery in detail, assessing the natural patina of the silver, as it forms an essential part of the expert description of the piece). Shipping The item will be carefully protected and securely packaged, with insured shipping and an international tracking number. An truly extraordinary and rare opportunity to acquire a Solid Silver fountain pen from one of the most sought-after "Great Characters," with its incredible complete original set! Good luck to all bidders!
