The summit is topped by a small golden cross that accentuates the object’s vertical thrust. Particularly striking is the supporting structure: an angel with wings spread supports the case, creating a harmonious and highly theatrical composition. The base, richly modeled, is decorated with heads of winged cherubs and decorative motifs, with a succession of details that bear testimony to the great attention given to the ornamental aspect of the work. Of notable beauty is the contrast between the silver exterior and the golden elements. When the door is opened, the interior reveals a completely gilded surface, magnificently preserved, with a luminous, uniform, and nearly perfect gilding that constitutes one of the most fascinating elements of the monstrance.
