Seven glowing red rubies and 83 diamonds make up this necklace. Each ruby is framed by eight brilliant-cut diamonds, creating a flower in red and white. Sparkling leaves of navette- and pear-cut diamonds connect the flowers and create a precious garland. Rubies are the most precious of all gemstones, next to coloured diamonds. And of all rubies, those from Burma are the most sought-after. This is because Burma, now Myanmar, has always been regarded as the classic origin of the best rubies. For a long time, rubies in Burma were only found in the region around the city of Mogok. In the early 1990s, however, rubies were also discovered 250 km to the south near the town of Mong Hsu. The necklace presented here contains just such rubies from Mong Hsu, totaling 10.86 ct. The quality of the diamonds is equally exquisite. A total of 13.19 ct are set in different cuts. All diamonds are uniform in color, they are graded as G (Top Wesselton), and very pure, only stones of the qualities vvsi to vsi were used. All stones are set in high-carat white gold. The necklace comes from the collection of the important jeweler Chow Tai Fook of Hong Kong, one of the most important Chinese jewellers with a history dating back to 1929. We were able to acquire it from the estate of a member of the board of a southern German company who had purchased it in Hong Kong. It was only created a few years ago and has only been worn rarely so far. The necklace comes with two independent expert opinions on the quality of the gemstones. They are supplied with the necklace.
