Very rare medieval bronze chalice or holy water caldron/receptacle in bronze. Thick cast bronze vessel in the shape of a chalice, resting on a pierced foot, intended to hold holy water. The body is slightly conical, cut-lobed at mid-height, then takes the form of a sphere ornamented with vertical ribs. Polygonal lip surmounted by two triangular ears each with a hollow bulb intended to contain a handle. End of the Romanesque period, beginning of the Gothic period 11th/14th century. Excellent condition - missing foot lacuna, central handle missing.
