The 1950s were characterized by petticoats, Elvis Presley and, of course, the economic miracle. When, after the long years of war, food shortages, currency reform and the first reconstruction, the lust for life returned to German cities and living rooms, when the economic miracle made the first new prosperity possible in the centers of industry and commerce, the art of jewellery design also awoke to new life after many years of dreamless slumber. This white gold ring tells the story. It is set with a total of 0.95 ct of diamonds and is structured a bit higher above the finger. Two diamonds face each other like in a classic toi-et-moi ring - but the design is much more powerful compared to its turn-of-the-century role models and has the physicality and dynamism that characterize mid-century jewellery. The ring band opens out towards the large diamonds in its bezels, with one half of the open band polished smooth and the other set with diamonds. Arches and struts are attached to the sides under the ring face. These emphasize the abstract, almost architectural design. The ring has been very well preserved and still tells of the era of the economic miracle.
