Large quarto, publisher’s red cloth binding, richly decorated with gold lettering on the front cover and spine. Part of the “Nouvelle Collection des Classiques de l’Art” series, dedicated to the complete works of Michelangelo: painting, sculpture, and architecture. The volume is illustrated with 169 reproductions, primarily black-and-white photographs, documenting in particular Michelangelo’s sculptures, the frescoes of the Sistine Chapel—including the ceiling and The Last Judgment—as well as his architectural works. A beautiful documentary publication from the early 20th century, notable for its abundant illustrations and its elegant gilded Art Nouveau hardcover binding. Some scuffing and minor wear on the binding, particularly on the caps and corners; gilding still well preserved. Interior shows some foxing and scattered stains.
