Beautiful illustrated edition of this work which offers a broad and structured rereading of the life of Jesus Christ, from an historical, theological and spiritual perspective - The author undertakes to trace the existence of Christ from the prophetic announcements and the birth at Bethlehem to the Passion, the Resurrection, and the establishment of his redemptive mission. The work relies on the gospel narratives, but develops them within an explanatory framework designed to illuminate their doctrinal and moral scope - It is not merely a religious biography, but a meditation on the person of Christ, presented as the perfect model of holiness, truth, and love - Dupanloup stresses the coherence between actions, words, and the divine mission of Jesus, highlighting his role in the salvation of humanity. Each episode of Christ’s life becomes an occasion for reflection on faith, charity, sacrifice and the relationship between God and men - Mgr Dupanloup - Histoire de Notre-Seigneur Jésus-Christ - 1870 - Henry Plon - 551 pages. Good condition of the binding, the work in its half-leather edition, light signs of wear, corners and headpieces worn, upper head with cuts, beautiful gilded edges, spine with raised bands nicely decorated, titling and author’s name gilded, blind-embossed fillets surrounding the boards - Good interior condition, some foxing, beautiful title-page vignette, pretty headbands, lovely drop cap, richly illustrated with numerous and fine plates hors texte, marbled endpapers in good condition, a pleasant copy - Delivery service available within a few days -
