Mezcala Greenstone Bead Necklace + Five Face Pendants

Pre-Columbian, Southern Mexico, Guerrero region, Mezcala to early Maya culture, ca. 600 BCE to 100 BCE. A greenstone bead necklace accompanied by five carved face pendants. The necklace is strung in modern times and too short for wearing, composed of three graduated strands of small disc beads in varied tones of mottled green, separated at the shoulders by two reddish quartz stone spacer beads. The five pendants are carved in the characteristic Mezcala manner with simplified facial planes and minimal features. Size of necklace strand: 18" L (45.7 cm); largest pendant: 1.8" L x 1.75" W (4.6 cm x 4.4 cm) A Certificate of Authenticity will accompany all winning bids. Item # 199699
