Metal mask, Bamana, Mali, 19th-20th centuries

Descriptio Wrought iron. Measures: 23 cm high. Mask made of wrought iron, schematic in style and highly expressive, with simplified facial features and volumes reduced to essential forms. The piece has a frontal and compact design, linked to the Bamana metalworking tradition, with visible craftsmanship on the surface and in the definition of the contours. It retains a dark patina, oxidation, and irregularities characteristic of worked iron and consistent with its age. Lot in international warehouse (within the EU). Intra-EU shipping: no import duties apply within the EU. An export permit from the country of origin may be required. Due to its age and history of use, this lot may show signs of wear and previous interventions. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, no specialized technical testing has been performed. The absence of any mention of restorations does not guarantee that none exist. You may request additional information before placing a bid. This does not affect the buyer’s statutory rights.
