Rare and Long Handmade Bobbin Lace (tombolo) - Late 19th Century (Late 1800s) - 4.65 m x 3.50 cm Magnificent and elegant decorative edge in authentic bobbin lace (pizzo a fuselli), entirely handmade by skilled artisans in the second half of the 19th century (Late ’800). A highly refined piece with a geometric and stylized floral motif. The weave is enriched with lattice areas and fabric stitches (semi-filled) that give extraordinary depth and stability to the design. The lower edge is splendidly finished with a scalloped profile and festoons, while the right end still retains the original, filé fringes derived from the closure of the piece. The exceptional and extremely rare feature of this lot is its remarkable continuous length of 4.65 meters preserved in a single piece without cuts or subsequent joins.
