A rare medieval lead pectoral cross. A unique medieval artifact—an ancient lead cross dating back to the 11th–13th centuries. This object is not merely an ornament but a witness to the era when Christianity was taking root, embodying a spirit of deep faith and history. The cross is crafted in the four-pointed style characteristic of its era, featuring arms that flare toward the ends. It was cast in a two-part mold, a method typical of early medieval lead pectoral cross production. Obverse (front): Traditionally smooth and devoid of cast imagery—a typical feature of early crosses of this type. The surface bears a deep, uneven gray patina with speckling, lending the artifact a distinctive air of antiquity and authenticity. Reverse (back): Like the obverse, this side is smooth, with a uniform patina texture. The suspension loop, cast integrally with the cross, is clearly visible. Lead items were accessible to the general population, making them significant historical sources for studying the daily lives and beliefs of ordinary people of that period. The item is in excellent condition for an artifact of its age.Signs of wear consistent with age and use. Wearable. 100% original. Look at many photos for your own impression. The cross comes with a jewelry cord. Material: Lead (natural, fine patina). Dimensions: 28 mm х 21 mm. Weight: 6.90 grams. The item was purchased in 2015 in Barcelona, Spain from G.A. as part of a private Spanish collection dating back to the 1980s.
