The Tetela tricorn mask is a traditional mask associated with the Tetela, a people living mainly in the central region of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It is mainly recognizable by its three horns placed above the face. This distinctive form is linked to ritual practices and traditional beliefs. The mask could take part in ceremonies, dances, and community rites, particularly in relation to ancestors and the spiritual world. Note: the attribution of certain tricorn masks to the Tetela remains a topic of discussion among specialists; some examples are today considered Songye-Sungu or Tetela-Sungu.
