MAROT (Clément). Les OEuvres. Lyon, Jean de Tournes, 1546. 2 parts in one volume, in-16, red morocco, triple gilt fillet, ornate spine, interior roulette, gilt edges (Binding late 17th century). First edition by Jean de Tournes, published by Antoine du Moulin three years after the poet's death. Printed in round letters, it reproduces the text of the 1544 edition, known as "du rocher", and contains 3 unpublished pieces, including an epigram Contre l'inique directed against Étienne Dolet. (Cartier, n°60; Mayer, n°143; Tchemerzine, t. IV, p. 498.) A fine copy in an exquisite morocco binding by Boyet. It belonged to Joseph-Antoine de Crozat, Marquis de Tugny (1696-1751), conseiller au Parlement, with his handwritten bookplate on the verso of the title (Ex-bibliothecae D. Crozat) (cat. 1751, no. 1201). Cited by bibliographers, it comes from the libraries of La Roche-Lacarelle (1888, no. 173) and Maxime Denesle. Some light foxing. Hinges a little marked. Provenance: Stéphane Clavreuil bookshop.
