An extraordinary and certified work, realized with mixed technique on photograph by Mario Schifano, undisputed master of Italian Pop Art and the Scuola di Piazza del Popolo. Part of the famous and historic series of the 1990s dedicated to repainted photographs, this work serves as a dynamic visual bridge between mechanical reproduction and the visceral and emotional painting gesture. Schifano appropriates an image – drawn from reality or from the television screen – overlaying with force energetic and fluid brushstrokes of enamel and acrylic pigments onto the photographic surface. The pure and luminous white, joined with deep tones and saturation applied to the image, creates a dreamlike, almost psychedelic contrast, typical of the frenetic creative energy of the artist's late period. It is a secure investment, of museum quality, fully documented and archived: a work of immense prestige for any major international contemporary art collection. Artistic quality and series: an excellent example of the multimedia experiments of the artist's late period, in which color interacts directly with the photographic emulsion. Provenance and authentication: the work is regularly registered and archived, accompanied by an official Certificate of Authenticity from the "Fondazione Mario Schifano - Archivio Generale dell'Opera di Mario Schifano" (Rome). Archive number: registered with no. F90-97/2508 (dated May 18, 2007). Inscriptions: hand-signed "Schifano" on the back. It should be noted that the frame is provided to the buyer as a complimentary item." The work is archived at the Archives of Mario Schifano's works cataloged at the M.S. Multistudio foundation from 1985 to 1997 volume V and published on page 130 reference F90097-2268 and on the Catalogo Generale Telemarket page 362 from which a color photocopy will be provided. The documents of the Foundation and catalog publication photos are attached. The lot will be adequately packaged and shipped with contracted couriers and online tracking. For this lot, shipments outside the European Community are not made.
