RODARÁN CABEZAS #1 Series: Rodarán Cabezas Technique: Acrylic on canvas Year: 2026 Original and unique work In Rodarán Cabezas #1 I build a sculptural-looking face using geometric planes, volumes and shadows. The head appears tilted on a rectangular base, within a quiet space that blends elements of portraiture, architecture and landscape. I work with deep blues, blue-green hues, cream and sand tones. The lips introduce a terracotta accent that concentrates attention on the lower part of the face. The surfaces and their variations in light suggest a solid matter, while the curved and angular forms create a deliberately unbalanced equilibrium. One of the central elements is the arched opening that takes the place of an eye. Through it the background is revealed, turning the face into a space that can also be looked through. The other eye, closed, adds an expression of rest and introspection. The blue volumes that protrude behind the head and the small sphere far away expand the sense of depth. I aim for the figure to retain a human presence while also being perceived as an imaginary construction. To guarantee safe transport, I ship the canvas carefully protected and rolled inside a sturdy tube. The work is delivered unstretched. The head becomes the center of a composition where human identity coexists with geometric structures and dreamlike environments. The series language connects cubist fragmentation with a sculptural interpretation of volume. The color planes, shadows and openings invite imagined faces that possess weight, depth and inner spaces. I am interested in the relationship between solid and empty. An opening can become a gaze, a curve can suggest an emotion, and a geometric block can form part of the figure’s personality. With this first work I begin a journey in which portraiture also functions as landscape and architecture. The tilt of the head, the closed eye and the open arch propose an image of stillness that leaves room for various interpretations. This lot contains AI-generated visualizations.
