As a young woman, she moved to Warburton during the 1960s, later returning to her ancestral Country where she continued to live between Patjarr and Warakurna for many years. Deeply connected to her Country, Manupa's paintings are an expression of memory, culture and family. Through her work, she shares the stories of her homeland, ensuring that important cultural knowledge is passed on to her children and grandchildren. Rich in colour and movement, her paintings reflect both the physical landscape of the Western Desert and the enduring strength of Tjukurrpa (Dreaming), preserving the stories and places that have shaped her life. © MANUPA BUTLER / Copyright Agency, 2026
