An outstanding late 19th-century antique mantel clock (Pendule de cheminée) in the Victorian / Napoleon III style (c. 1880–1900). Housed in a heavy ebonized wooden architectural case featuring dark marbled-like intrasion side columns. The clock face is protected by a hinged brass glass bezel, opening to reveal a crisp white enamel dial with classic Roman numerals and two key-wind arbors. Mechanism & Sound Functionality: - Movement: Authentic French "Mouvement de Paris" mechanical movement with solid brass plates, fully tested and in excellent working condition. - Serial Number: Stamped with movement serial number "1562". - Strike/Chime: Centrally mounted brass bell struck by an internal hammer mechanism. It strikes once on the half-hour and counts the full hours on the hour. - Winding Key: Comes complete with a winding key. - Rear Panel: Solid wooden back door preserving the movement from dust. Dimensions: Height: 28 cm Width: 24 cm Depth: 13 cm Condition Report: In remarkable antique condition for its age. The mechanical movement and striking system work flawlessly. The porcelain dial is bright and clean with minimal signs of age. The wooden case retains its deep dark patina with authentic, subtle wear to the edges consistent with a late 19th-century piece.
