89. Mahler, Gustav. Postcard photograph signed, (5.37 x 3.37 in.; 137 x 86 mm.), [no place, very late 1880s early 1890s]; in pristine condition.\n\nA fine image of the young Gustav Mahler with a large, bold signature.\n\nThe postcard photograph produced by Breitkopf & Härtel depicts a handsome, young Mahler around the time he completed his First Symphony. Finished in 1888, at the height of his relationship with Marion von Weber, Mahler’s First Symphony reflects the intensity of his feelings at the time. Originally, the music was written as a five-movement symphonic poem with a descriptive programme.\n $15,000 - $25,000
