Magnificent Vintage Gold Ring With Diamonds & South Sea Pearl, Germany

A flawless, white South Sea pearl is the focal point of this ring from around 1985, surrounded by a band of fine diamonds that wash around it like frothing spray. In total, there are diamonds of 2.45 ct, most of them in square cuts. Followed by each other, they create an almost flowing effect. South Sea pearls, actually South Sea cultured pearls, are a rather recent phenomenon in the history of pearl culture. For a long time, only the Akoya pearls bred in Japan were available in a quality that could hold its own with natural pearls. It was not until the late 1970's that pearls from various countries south of Japan entered the world market. Japanese experts had successfully applied the knowledge of domestic pearl cultivation to the pearl oyster species "Pinctada Maxima", which had not been used in Japan until then and which can produce particularly large pearls: The "South Sea pearl" was born. The ring, made of high-carat gold, came to us from the estate of an illustrious previous owner in the genteel Hamburg district of Othmarschen. It comes with a detailed certificate from the German Association for Gemstone Evaluation .
