Lyre clock - Antieke Franse lierpendule - Bronze, Marble - 1800-1850

Exceptionally beautiful antique French Empire lyre clock, superbly executed in fire-gilded bronze and white marble. This imposing timepiece is richly decorated at the top with the head of the sun god Apollo, flanked by graceful swan heads that together hold a garland. The finely pierced bronze dial features enamelled cartouches, and the clock has a characteristic wire suspension. The pendule rests on an elegant white marble base, richly decorated with gilded bronze ornaments, including a fire basket and butterflies. This remarkable timepiece is of French origin and dates from the early 19th century. A beautiful and decorative example of the refined French Empire style. Dimensions: 48 cm high × 19 cm wide × 12 cm deep. All our clocks have been fully overhauled and are in excellent condition.
