Luigi Maria Veronesi (1899-1987) - Case d'Alpago

Fascinating oil painting on antique panel, work signed by the well-known Italian painter Luigi Maria Veronesi. The work depicts a suggestive rural view dominated by a pair of rustic farmhouses with sloping roofs, immersed in an atmosphere suspended and hushed. In the background, a mountainous profile rises under a cloudy sky, rendered with great atmospheric sensitivity. It represents the Alpago territory, as evidenced by the title of the work written on the back, a splendid geographic basin and a historic-nature region located in the province of Belluno, in Veneto, nestled between the Belluno Prealps. The composition is structured with a deft play of diagonal perspective that guides the viewer’s eye along the dirt path in the foreground, flanked by leafy trees and spontaneous vegetation. The painting stands out for a thick, vibrant and confident brushwork, typical of the artist’s landscape production, faithful to the tradition of the figurative naturalism of the Italian twentieth century. The color choices focus on warm, earthy tones (ochre, browns and deep greens) that harmoniously contrast with the cooler tones of the sky and the distant mountains. On the back is present the title of the work, the date and the place of execution and probably the place where it was purchased in Verona. Excellent state of conservation. Slight signs of time and wear clearly visible in the photo. Photo as an integral part of the lot description. Insured and traceable shipping.
