Ludmilla Pilat Welch (American 1867-1925) Oil on Canvas, Yosemite
An evocative Tonalist oil on canvas of Yosemite Valley by renowned California plein-air painter Ludmilla Pilat Welch. The landscape centers on a majestic, mist-veiled granite peak rising above a calm lake. At the water's edge, two Native American riders on horseback look out across the valley floor, while a traditional encampment sits partially hidden among the mid-ground trees. The piece is characterized by Welch's signature visible brushstrokes and rich impasto details throughout the foliage. Signed L.P. WELCH and dated 1902 in the lower right. Housed in a modern cove-profile gilt wood frame. Sight size: 18"W x 13"H. Dimensions: 21"W x 16"H Weight: 2.2 lbs Condition Request Condition Report Good.
