Louis XVI Column - 1850-1900 - Fluted Ionic

It is a fluted Ionic wooden column, made in the nineteenth century but conceived under the Louis XVI aesthetic, which from the outset makes it a hybrid and highly suggestive piece: a nineteenth-century object that looks toward French neoclassicism of the last third of the eighteenth century, reinterpreting it with the artisanal sensibility of its own time. The Ionic structure is immediately recognizable in the capital: those lateral volutes, discreet yet perfectly defined, which lend a scholarly and classical air without falling into Corinthian exuberance. The shaft, fluted, marks the vertical rhythm with a soft, regular cadence, almost musical, typical of the Greco-Roman repertoire that the Louis XVI style recovers with archaeological rigor. The wood, worked with precision, reveals a deep grain that softens the academic severity of the design and adds a warm, domestic, almost intimate dimension. The base and capital exhibit that taste for clear geometry and restrained ornamentation that defines French neoclassicism: clean moldings, balanced proportions, a sense of order that avoids any Baroque excess. Although the piece belongs to the nineteenth century, it remains faithful to the Louis XVI canon in the way it articulates the volumes: squared pedestal, a sharp transition to the shaft, an elegant crown without stridency. Taken together, this column functions as an architectural object converted into furniture, a miniature domestic temple designed to support sculptures, vases, or decorative elements. Its presence is serene, cultured, and classical, perfect for interiors seeking that blend of French sobriety and nineteenth-century craftsmanship. Registered/insured shipping and careful packing
