LIGHTBOWN (Ronald) — Piero della Francesca - Lot 190

LIGHTBOWN (Ronald) — Piero della Francesca Paris, Citadelles & Mazenod. A substantial volume in large quarto format, in the publisher’s binding with an illustrated dust jacket, with its matching illustrated slipcase. An important monograph by Ronald Lightbown devoted to Piero della Francesca, one of the great masters of the Italian Renaissance. A detailed study of his paintings: frescoes, altarpieces, portraits, and large decorative cycles, notably the Altarpiece of Mercy and the famous frescoes in Arezzo. Extensive color illustrations, including numerous full-page and double-page reproductions as well as details that allow for the study of the artist’s technique and the state of preservation of the works. A beautiful publication from the Citadelles & Mazenod art collection. Some signs of wear and soiling on the slipcase; dust jacket and book in generally good condition.
