Leopold Van Assche(1894-1968) - Aan de slootkant

Pol Van Assche was a Belgian painter who lived from 1894 to 1968. He painted mainly landscapes and industrial environments. What makes his work special is the muted atmosphere he managed to evoke. With sober colors and clean lines, he showed how factories and industry were changing the landscape. His paintings are thus not only images of the surroundings, but also tell something about the influence of humans on nature. Later he settled in Sint-Martens-Latem, a place known for its artists. This work is signed with his initials.
