Lehmann - Tin toy - Galop 852 - 1950-1960 - Germany

Description / Description: Splendid and rare lithographed tin mechanical toy produced by the renowned German company Lehmann, model "Galop" (Art. 852), depicting a characteristic cowboy on a cart drawn by a zebra. A great classic of European antique toy production, The toy presents in good overall aesthetic condition, with the lithography colors still wonderfully vivid, glossy and well preserved, as seen in the attached actual photos. (minimal scratches on the zebra's right side) Mechanical and Operation (Tested Mechanism): • Spring mechanism: PERFECTLY FUNCTIONAL. The internal spring has been tested with a compatible key: it winds up regularly and promotes autonomous advancement of the toy. The internal gears, clearly visible from underneath, are clean and well preserved. • Character movement: The mechanism that raises and lowers the cowboy during the march is smooth and perfectly functional, both with the spring wind and in manual movement. Included in the lot / Special bonus: • Fragment of the original box: Along with the toy comes a precious and rare fragment of its original Lehmann vintage box. The cardboard piece is incomplete and exhibits evident and natural signs of aging, creases and wear (as in the photo), but still preserves the beautiful period graphics with the model name "Galop" and the zebra illustration clearly legible. Defect and condition disclosure (Maximum Transparency): • Zebra leg: The zebra's rear right leg is currently glued (by a previous owner) and fixed in its position. It is not movable like the other three. The fix is isolated and does not affect the internal movement of the cowboy nor the operation of the cart gears. • Winding key: The original winding key is NOT included in the lot (the mechanism has been tested with a substitute key from another toy). Toy sold as is, without any recent invasive restorations or cleaning. Splendid to display directly in a shop window or ideal for an experienced collector who wishes to restore the leg mobility. Please carefully examine the photos, which are an integral part of the description, to assess the state of the lithography, the internal mechanism, and the box.
