ARTIST NEWS Laura Muolo, born in 1975, originally from Milan and now based in Rimini. She approached art as a self-taught artist starting in 2013. Her starting medium is graphite, through which she immediately seeks the realism of faces, later exploring other media such as pastel and painting. She participates in many group exhibitions across Italy and internationally, and her works are shown in important Italian museums. Her works are part of several private collections around the world. Four solo exhibitions so far. She has collaborated on creating the cover of a poetry book in 2015 and the cover of a philosophy book in 2023. Winner and finalist in several artistic competitions at national and international levels. Laura describes her work this way: “I prefer oil painting for its reflective nature: it allows me to build the image step by step, changing, smoothing, perfecting. Sometimes I use pastel on cardboard to capture the subject’s essence directly and instinctively. My style is realistic, but my painting tells inner worlds, hidden emotions, and stories to decipher. My works move between dreamlike landscapes and figures immersed in their thoughts, accompanied by shadows that reveal what is not visible: desires, fears, memories. Each scene originates from photographs of young subjects and takes shape through symbols, objects, and animals that give voice to a memory or a deep feeling.
