Large antique Japanese Imari porcelain ornamental dish with birds and ceremonial Kai-awase boxes - 31.5 cm - Late Edo / Early Meiji period (ca. 1850–1900) Description: A monumental antique Japanese Imari porcelain ornamental dish (31.5 cm) from the Arita kilns, dating to the transitional period from late Edo to early Meiji (ca. 1850–1900). The hand-painted Kinrande decoration features an asymmetrical Kachō-ga motif with birds, branches and Kai-awase boxes, complemented by the imperial Paulownia crest and gilding on cobalt blue and iron-red. The reverse shows good luck symbols and an authentic orange-brown 'iron skin' on the foot ring due to historical wood firing. Dimensions & Weight: Diameter: 31.5 cm Height: approx. 3.5 cm Weight: 0.9 kg Condition: Excellent antique condition, entirely sound and pristine (no chips, cracks, or restorations), with only minimal wear to the gold. Sold without a stand!
