LARGE COLLECTION OF TEN ROMAN GLASS UNGUENTARIA

Ca. AD 1 - 300. A collection of ten free-blown glass vessels of varied proportions. The upper register comprises a large unguentarium with a compressed globular body and an exceptionally long cylindrical neck, flanked by two fusiform unguentaria in blue and green glass. Below are two piriform vessels with moderately elongated necks, a small dark-glass flask with a globular body, a slender blue phial, and a green bottle of ovoid form. Two tall drop-shaped unguentaria, one green and the other brownish, complete the group. The surfaces preserve earthen deposits, opaque weathering, and blue, green, and violet iridescence.
