Aroma: Sweet and inviting with salty notes, fresh tropical fruits, green bananas, and pink peppercorns. Taste: Medium-bodied with campfire smoke, oak spice, and honey toast. Hints of toffee apples emerge. The lid of the very thin and delicate outer packaging shows a small area of damage caused during transit from the retailer (see photo). Finish: Long and lingering with peat smoke, dark chocolate, and vanilla toffee. Lagavulin 16 Lagavulin 16 is the proud flagship of the distillery of the same name. It is prized for its dry smoky notes and iodine aromas. Aroma: Intense peat smoke, earthy notes, a fresh sea breeze, and a touch of iodine. Complex sherry aromas and sweet vanilla round out the profile. Taste: Robust peat smoke, a hint of iodine, sweet malt, and toasted oak. Notes of light heather, a pinch of sea salt, and hay join in. Finish: Very long and elegant, featuring sweet dried fruits, salty campfire smoke, seaweed, and malt.
