The Jerusalem Bible – Lidis Editions, Paris – 3 volumes – Original case Description Superb edition in three volumes of the Jerusalem Bible, published by Lidis Editions in Paris. This edition revisits the famous French translation carried out under the direction of the École Biblique de Jérusalem. The works are introduced by Daniel Pézeril, auxiliary bishop of Paris, Jacques Maury, president of the National Council of the Reformed Church of France, and Rabbi Josy Eisenberg. The set comprises 3 volumes, each with an elegant publisher’s binding in red/bordeaux, richly adorned with decorative gold motifs inspired by antique binders. The spines are particularly decorative and give the overall appearance a very elegant and bibliophile character. The edition is richly illustrated with color miniatures, notably drawn from ancient manuscripts, making it as much a religious work as a beautiful decorative and collectible set. The set is accompanied by its original box, also red, allowing the three volumes to be stored together. Condition All three volumes are in perfect condition. The pages and illustrations are especially fresh and clean. The bindings and the gilding are also very well preserved. The original box shows signs of wear due to its age and handling, with some rubbing and marks. A more noticeable stain is visible on the exterior part of the box. These defects are visible in the photographs and do not affect the three volumes. Photographs are an integral part of the description.
