LA FONTAINE (Jean de). Complete Works, illustrated with one hundred engravings. Paris, Nepveu, 1820. 4 volumes in-18, aubergine morocco with a long grain, gold fillets and cold-stamped scrollwork on the covers, decorated spine, interior scrollwork, gilt edges (contemporary binding). Complete series of *Contes* in 4 volumes. Set of illustrations by Desenne, Deveria, and Clouet, printed from the original plates, and a set of separate prints by Duplessis-Bertaux. Copy belonging to Mademoiselle Rachel (1821–1858), an iconic figure of Romantic theater, with her bookplate.
