History and origins: created in 1930 for the New York residence of architectural historian Philip Johnson and officially presented in 1931 at the famous Bauausstellung exhibition in Berlin. Structure and materials: the base is finely crafted in walnut-stained solid wood, supported by elegant leather straps and stainless steel legs that emphasize the project’s structural rigor. Tailored workmanship: the mattress, upholstered in fire-retardant foam, is covered in premium black leather hand-cut with 72 individual panels sewn together.
