KLM Cheese Weighing Scale Gouda – first edition from 1995 – Blue Delft by Bols Description Rare and unusual KLM collectors item: the Gouda Cheese Weighing Scale. Offered is a fine KLM Kaaswaag from Gouda, a special edition within the well-known Delft Blue KLM house figurines collection. This miniature of the historic Cheese Weighing Scale on the Markt in Gouda was issued from 1995 by KLM as a wedding gift to passengers traveling in Business Class on intercontinental KLM routes during their honeymoon. The Cheese Weighing Scale came in place of the famous Palace on the Dam. The onboard issuance was terminated around 2000; remaining pieces later entered the collectors circuit. This piece concerns the first edition of the Kaaswaag. Characteristic of this early edition is the text on the underside: Blue Delft's exclusively made for KLM by BOLS Royal Distilleries Holland On the back it states: KLM with crown "KAASWAAG" GOUDA The house is executed in the characteristic Delft blue ceramic and depicts the historic Gouda Cheese Weighing Scale, the building where cheeses were traditionally weighed. Details of this lot KLM Delft Blue house – Kaaswaag Gouda First edition, from 1995 Special KLM edition, not a regularly numbered KLM house Issued as a wedding gift to Business Class passengers on intercontinental routes Produced for KLM by Bols / Royal Distilleries Holland Original text and markings on the underside Includes original packaging Includes the accompanying box, information about De Waag in Gouda The piece is in new condition The seal is unbroken and still filled with bols, A beautiful and increasingly hard-to-find item for the serious KLM house-figurine collector or collector of Dutch aviation memorabilia.
