Rare Hugo Leven for Kayserzinn Art Nouveau Five-Light Candelabra – Model 4486 – Germany, c. 1901–1903 A magnificent and rare original Art Nouveau / Jugendstil five-light candelabra, designed by renowned German sculptor and designer Hugo Leven (1874–1956) and produced by J. P. Kayser & Sohn (Kayserzinn) in Germany. The sculptural design is characterised by four elegantly sweeping arms surrounding a raised central candle socket. The cast pewter body is richly decorated with delicate floral and foliage reliefs, including stylised blossoms and leaves, while the pierced construction and flowing organic lines are quintessentially Jugendstil. The underside bears the highly important original oval KAYSERZINN factory mark and model number 4486, confirming the attribution. The model is documented in the Kayserzinn literature and has appeared at major European auction houses. The five candle sockets feature removable drip trays/inserts, as originally designed. The substantial size and impressive sculptural presence make this a particularly desirable example for collectors of Hugo Leven, Kayserzinn and German Jugendstil.
