Each work is unique in that it is folded and shaped by hand. Karl Lagasse. Karl Lagasse, a renowned artist, gained recognition in 2009 with his One Dollar sculptures, ranking among the ten best sculptors under 30 that year according to Artprice. In 2012, the New York publication Farameh named him as one of the fifty best contemporary artists inspired by traditional American icons, in its work FOR WHICH IT STANDS: Americana in Contemporary Art. More recently, in 2016, at the Art Paris Art Fair, the President of the French Republic warmly congratulated Karl for his impressive 2-meter bronze sculpture One Dollar, exhibited at the Grand Palais. Karl’s artistic journey began at age 7 with collages, encouraged by his meeting with sculptor César Baldaccini. He then turned to tagging and graffiti in the Paris metro while remaining passionate about collages. The artist Yvaral Vasarely encouraged him to merge his tags with his collages. In 2003, Karl prepared his first exhibition in Paris, which led to his first solo show in 2006 at the Isy Brachot Gallery in Brussels. In 2008, he returned to Paris with an exhibition combining paintings, sculptures, and video elements at the Espace Pierre Cardin. Karl especially enjoys unveiling his works at international exhibitions. In 2011, he was represented by Bel Air Fine Art at the Art Monaco fair with his Cryptogram One. The following year, he showcased his One Dollar works under the theme "In God We Trust" at the Artco France gallery. His 2016 solo show at Atrium Gallery in Marbella, Spain, was opened by the mayor, who praised his works in front of the international press. On this occasion, a bronze cryptogram 1.80 m and a 2-meter One Dollar were exhibited during the event. - 50th anniversary of the Deauville American Film Festival; for the occasion, the artist created 18 bronze trophies as well as a 2-meter sculpture to be installed at the CID.
