I propose the book “Car Racing 1967,” published by Cercle d'art, tracing automobile racing in 1967, based on the photographic archives of the DPPI agency, founded in 1965. Living motor racing up close, in contact, was the great ambition of a handful of passionate photographers, creators in 1965 of the DPPI agency. 1967 is therefore naturally the third volume in the “Car Racing” collection, born from the desire to bring back to life the sensations of a era that was certainly not ordinary. No one would have disputed Ernest Hemingway declaring that “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing and mountaineering; the others are really just games.” Selected from the DPPI archives, mostly unpublished, the photographs reproduced here are accompanied by the comments, memories and anecdotes of two legendary figures as well: photographer Manou Zurini and journalist Johnny Rives. The book is in pristine condition and the reproduction quality of the photos is exceptional. The texts are in English and French.
