Joe Morgan 1976 National League Most Valuable Player...

Joe Morgan 1976 National League Most Valuable Player...

Joe Morgan 1976 National League Most Valuable Player Award (Second Consecutive NL MVP and World Championship Seasons). Iconic black painted wooden plaque measures 16" across with octagonal sterling silver placard mounted on front. A bust of Kennesaw M. Landis sits atop "Most Valuable Player National League" titling with embossed gold nameplate underneath having "Joe Leonard Morgan, Cincinnati Reds" impressed within. "1976" is incorporated into a crossed bats and ball design underneath the nameplate. The condition presents as outstanding overall with only some very minor surface wear and patination. Reverse of the award has green felt backing which was applied later to wooden backplate. Improbably, Morgan was able to capture his second straight NL MVP award for his outstanding 1976 season and led the Big Red Machine to another World Championship. Taken in total, Morgan's 1976 season may well have been the finest of his career with a .320 batting average, 27 home runs, 111 RBIs, 60 Stolen Bases, 1.020 OPS, and league leading 9.6 WAR mark. The season culminated with Joe's superlative World Series performance with a .333 batting average in sweeping the New York Yankees in four games. Along with its 1975 counterpart, one of the most important Most Valuable Player Awards of Morgan's era to have been publicly offered. Includes letter of provenance from Theresa Morgan: EX-MT
