Jewellery box - Papier-mache - A 19th-century libretto

Rare and deliciously charming Victorian-style miniature book-shaped storage box / jewelry box (second half of the 19th century, ca. 1860–1880) shaped like a tiny book (extremely compact size 9.5 x 9 x 2 cm). Made in black lacquer with elegant iridescent floral motif inlays and hand-painted gold details. The contoured back bears the gold inscription "Friendship's Offering". Original side closure in worked metal, perfectly functioning.
