It is an artisanal jewelry casket in a Middle Eastern style. It is hand-decorated using geometric inlay (marquetry), uniting precious woods (walnut, olive, lemon wood), iridescent mother-of-pearl, and fragments of bone. The ornamental motifs visible on the lid and sides are not mere decorations, but follow the canons of Islamic geometric art, based on the idea that mathematical order mirrors the harmony of the universe: The Eight-Pointed Star at the center: It is the main visual element of the lid, generated by the interlacing of two rotated squares. In Islamic art this symbol is known as the Rub al-Hizb. It historically represents divine light, perfection, and served as a spiritual compass or guide in the desert. Honeycomb and Rosette motif: Around the central star a dense network of hexagons and small stylized geometric flowers develops. By replacing depictions of human or animal figures (avoided in classical decorative tradition), the craftsman recreates a structure that gives the illusion of continuing infinitely, a concept that alludes to the infinitude of the divine. Side Friezes in Herringbone: On the sides of the box, bands composed of small diamonds alternating light and dark create a continuous three-dimensional effect.
