This set of 10 physical volumes includes: • Major works from the benchmark edition by A. Belin (1817), featuring the famous Dictionnaire de Musique (Vol. 4) complete with all its large folding technical copper-engraved plates by Richomme (including the famous Swiss Air, Chinese Air, etc.), as well as the engraved sheet music for Le Devin du Village (Vol. 5), Les Confessions, and Dialogues. • Volume 8 (Correspondance) is enriched with a beautiful period manuscript facsimile of Rousseau's famous 1751 letter to the Marquise de Créqui, carefully mounted on a paper tab. • The rare supplements of Œuvres inédites published by P. Dupont (1825) under the direction of Musset-Pathay (Vols. 9 & 10). UNIQUE HISTORICAL PIECE INCLUDED: Found inserted inside Volume 2, this lot includes an authentic original WWII German Occupation Ausweis (night curfew pass), issued on January 25, 1944, in Entre-deux-Guiers (Isère, France) to Mr. George Charbonnel. The document is in excellent condition, dual-stamped by the French town hall and the official German Kommandantur eagle stamp (swastika). Clear local provenance tracked by the antique label from the Jean Ménagé Art Bookstore in Grenoble inside Vol. 1. Condition: Reasonable vintage condition. Solid bindings, minor wear to spine caps and edges. Interiors clean with scattered foxing typical of this paper period, but texts and fragile plates remain perfectly sound and legible. A wonderful scholarly library set packed with layers of history.
