A rare mid-century Blackamoor bust brooch by the designer Jarin. The piece is constructed from sterling silver with a gold-tone vermeil finish. The motif features the head and shoulders of a figure wearing an elaborate turban topped with three plumes and a wide, flared collar. The head is carved from a polished black material, likely ebony or a dense composition. The turban is adorned with a large central red oval cabochon and clear pave-set rhinestones on the plumes. The collar is decorated with an inner row of clear rhinestones and an outer row of small round red rhinestones. The reverse of one plume is impressed with the characters STERLING and the maker name JARIN within a rectangular cartouche.
